FLAX is a 501(c) (3) public charity registered in the State of California. All donations to FLAX can be considered tax deductible to the extent of the law.
The current fundraising goal is to endow FLAX with $1 million. FLAX wishes to provide the community with annual grants totaling $100,000 to support select projects. A third of this annual budget would be financed by interest from the endowment, a third by annual fundraising and a third from sponsorships and donations.
Projects are selected by the Program Committee on the basis of established criteria:
- • The Project contributes to FLAX’s Mission to further a better understanding of modern France through cultural exchanges.
- • The Project provides a diverse exposure to French art and culture.
- • The Project is designed to reach out to a broad public in Southern California.
- • The Project is developed in close cooperation with cultural institutions and associations in Southern California and in France and contributes to the development of those organizations.
Each year FLAX will develop or finance a minimum of 5 events such as exhibitions, concerts and conferences. Through these projects, FLAX will enable other institutions by providing financial support to develop and present French cultural programs that will serve our mission.
FLAX will also regularly produce a large original project, working collaboratively with local and French institutions. These FLAX-Projects will be in part financed by dedicated philanthropists and corporate sponsors.
For its sponsors, FLAX will provide exclusive opportunities to attend the events and, if appropriate, on-site visibility.
