Jeunes Talents

“Jeunes Talents” is a wonderful program that unites several of our passions: youth, the arts, Los Angeles, France and bringing people closer together across cultures.

The first collaboration of its kind between France and Los Angeles Art Schools (Otis College of Art & Design, Art Center College of Design and California Institute of the Arts), “Jeunes Talents” brought nine outstanding fine arts students from Los Angeles to France, where each created two paintings reflecting their experience and what can only be unique perspectives on France’s rich and diverse culture. In February 2006, these works were exhibited in a prominent Los Angeles art gallery and the proceeds of the auction that followed were turned over to the scholarship funds of the participating American art schools.

Program Jeunes Talents

The second edition of “Jeunes Talents” invited 12 selected students from four prestigious American institutes (Art Center College of Design, Otis College of Art & Design, University of New Orleans and Dillard University of New Orleans) to produce a 4 to 6-minute video clip presenting their impressions of the cultural heritage of the regions which hosted them during a two-week period.

The videos were shown in March 2008 at a travel seminar organized by Maison de la France (the French Government Tourist Office in Los Angeles) and will be used for tourist and cultural promotion purposes over a two-year period.

Los Angeles is a vibrant and optimistic city and the arts run in the city’s blood. This program is an opportunity for FLAX to share some of the city’s talented artists with France and for these young people to bring the grandeur of France back to Los Angeles. FLAX is proud to be a part of that cultural exchange.
